Olive's Profile

Olive trained as a State Registered Nurse and State Certified Midwife. In the mid 1980's she trained as a Yoga Teacher with the Irish Yoga Association and taught Yoga for 18 years. During this time, Olive qualified as a Reflexologist with Jane Vukovic of the Churchill School (London) and 2 years later received a further Reflexology qualification with the International Institute of Reflexology under the tutelage of Dwight Byres and Tony Porter.

In 1985 Olive founded one of the first Reflexology Schools in Ireland - The Holistic School of Reflexology - which was approved by the newly formed Society of Reflexologists of Ireland. Two years later the School was approved by the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC) and shortly afterwards was awarded the prestigious James Accreditation Award by ITEC. Olive had meantime produced her own Foot Reflexology Charts for use by schools teaching Reflexology. These charts were approved by the two Associations and continue to be used by schools in Ireland and as far afield as the UK, USA, Japan and Australia.

In 1989 Olive qualified as an Acupuncturist with the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland which culminated in postgraduate training in Sri Lanka. Body Massage, Aromatherapy, Stress Management Diplomas and some Kinesiology training followed. Teaching Diplomas were subsequently added to the list of therapies taught by the school, now known as the Holistic School of Reflexology and Massage.

During 18 years of teaching Olive also ran a very busy private practice incorporating all of her natural therapies until she decided to take time off and close the School in November 2003. Over 700 students had passed through the school with International Diplomas. She continues to run workshops, incorporating most of the therapies mentioned and accredited with the Irish Reflexologists' Institute. The success of both teaching students and treating patients lies in the ability to combine different therapies according to students' and patients' needs - in particular Acupuncture and Reflexology - always in consultation with with the patients.

Drawing on the common link of Ch'i -Energy - between all therapies, and following a total of 14 successful examinations in Anatomy and Physiology, other, unique charts have been developed, including Hand Reflexology, Reflexology and Meridians of the Hands and Feet, Reproductive Reflexology (acupressure points to use and not to use in pregnancy and the different phases of the reproductive system) and Facial Acupressure Charts.
